Hans Waldemar Wesso (1893 - 1948) was active/lived in New York, Connecticut / Germany.  Hans Wesso is known for Illustrator, pulp science fiction.

The following is from Gail Thompson, August 2002:

I am the great niece of Hans' Wesso's wife. I have some information on his life. He came over to America in June of 1914 when he jumped ship in New Orleans and swam to shore. He was actively doing his art to support himself and his wife, Minnie Ross Wessolowski, until his death in 1947. He had an artificial eye. They lived in Kansas City, Missouri; New York City and Connecticut.

He was born in Graudenz, Germany on August 19, 1893, and died in Westport Connecticut in 1947. I heard he was Polish. I have some of his portraits and a few of his oil landscapes. Mainly he did drawings for sci-fi magazines. His name was HANS WALDEMAR WESSOLOWSKI.

As an illustrator of action packed adventures, he earned his reputation primarily for the 34 covers he did in the 1930s for "Astounding Stories".
